Tilt rotates your plane of focus (Scheimpflug principle). It does not thicken it. Shift only moves the image circle for perspective/stitching — it does nothing for DOF. Ignore shift for this shot; all your DOF control is in the tilt.
When you tilt the lens down (front tilt toward the tabletop), the sharp-focus plane lays down into the scene instead of standing parallel to the sensor. Aligned well, near-to-far comes sharp at a far wider aperture than you could ever get flat.

Anything standing up out of that plane (the floating sword high in back, the robed figure's head, the knight's helmet) is only sharp where it sits inside the wedge. A scene with this much vertical relief will not go fully sharp on tilt alone.

How to read it: if the lens is ~25cm above your set's key plane, ~4° tilt puts the hinge line at that height (J = 24.4cm). If the lens is ~20cm up, ~5° (J = 19.5cm). Lower the camera and the required tilt increases; raise it and the tilt decreases.
